BON IVER — I CAN’T MAKE YOU LOVE ME (COVER)

I can never stop bloggin’ bout Justin Vernon. I blogged the full uncut video of his live Jagjaguwar session but this is my favorite piece from the recording. The original Bonnie Raitt song from 1991 (year I was born!) is pretty devastatingly peaceful, but leave it to Bon Iver to leave you feelin’ even further isolated from civilization and reality.

This is for a friend who I think is seeking out some more direction in his life. God knows we all need a little.

BON IVER — COMING DOWN (ANAIS MITCHELL COVER)

WARNING: SENTIMENTAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS. There’s points in our lives when we will face a fork in the road and while the ‘right’ option may not be apparent, we somehow find ourselves foraging forward. And when we find burdens like that heavy upon our shoulders, we need the joy of our peers, family, and daily life to keep us going. Or sometimes, you need Bon Iver to cure the soul. This has given me an idea of another playlist but for now, drown in the raw sorrows of Justin Vernon’s bittersweet singing.

Original song below. Stirs up the emotions in a different way.
