While I don’t live by Pitchfork reviews, but Ryan Dombal has it spot on with Jessie Ware’s debut LP. Ware brings you into a dream, beginning with the stunningly ethereal ‘Devotion’ and immediately waking you up with my one of my favorite tracks of the summer ‘Wildest Moments.’ ‘Night Light’ is rich with Ware’s sensual crooning, pairing well with string instruments and classic electric guitar. I’m still listening to the entire thing but I’ve snatched it up on iTunes and you should too. I can already tell it’s a worthwhile album to start the school year.
Jessie Ware’s silky-yet-robust voice is always wonderful to listen to, but I have no problem with a little manipulation from the talented Star Slinger. While his Rihanna remix was fast-paced and all sorts of crazy fun, he slows it down for Jessie and gives us a very chill and funky mix. It almost reminds me of a SBTKRT + Jessie kinda collab song, but that grittiness is totally a Star Slinger characteristic. Love it.
YES! Jessie Ware, coolest chick in the UK, has released another soulful love song and you will not be able to resist her seductive beckoning on this track. She reminds me of Florence (+ the Machine) in this track, but adds her own unique sassiness. And I absolutely die when Sampha hits those subtle backup vocals. Another successful collaboration — these two are like hot bread and butter.
